How Does re:consent Work?

re:consent is a privacy tool to help you understand and control how data is collected on websites you visit. With it, you can more easily and quickly determine which data is collected and who can see it.

For instance, on social platforms such as Facebook, Google, Instagram, Pinterest, or Twitter, you will see if a service uses your personal data for advertising purposes, such as retargeting or interest-based advertising, by displaying information about these features.

How does re:consent work?

When you visit a website with the re:consent extension, the browser automatically shows you the purpose for which the website collects and processes your data. If there are no purposes for which it collects and processes your data, there is no need to change anything.

When re:consent detects that the website collects and processes your data for more than one purpose, you can change it at any time by clicking on the "Change" button next to the specific information. The change will apply to all the websites in your browser.

You can also change the data you share with a website by clicking on the "Share" button. If you want to do so, you must make sure that you check "Share only with websites that match these criteria", or the extension will not work.

You can also share a list of sites with a specific purpose or with all the sites in the browser with one click.
